Big Rock Farm Resort
It was almost midnight when we arrived at Big Rock Farm Resort in Coral na Bato, San Rafael, Bulacan. Planned to stay overnight, we rented a bigger cottage right next to the biggest swimming pool, that will accommodate nine (9) of us and our, well, not-so-many swimming stuff.
It was a Saturday night, almost all of the cottages - may it be the biggest or the smallest are fully-booked and occupied. You can choose to stay in a Nipa Hut cottage or executive cottages or you may also rent an open table available for small group of visitors and day tour packages. The moment we are settled and rested (from the long travel - I'll tell you later what happened on our way to the resort), we excitedly changed to our swimsuit and board shorts and proceeded to the swimming pool. Oblivious of the cold water - we swum and dove. The resort has three swimming pools. Not only that, they also offers videoke-for-rent for those who wants to sing-their-lungs out (He-he!), billiard table and horse-back riding. The kids will love to have their picture taken with the mini-jeep scattered inside the resort's premises and miniature of cartoon characters.
The resort boost of a cave bar, cave pool with stage for the live band and singers of the night and Jacuzzi. They also have a large pool with orca slide, a hanging bridge with a man-made running water and a cute garden. At the far end of the resort, at the back of the parking lot is an open space for a vegetable garden or such. Terraces of eggplants or so I thought, are visible from the hanging bridge area. They also have a huge space right in front of the resort for a parking lot (still in progress) and a farm. In fact, we roamed around the area and took a picture of 'cute' ostrich (I found these ostrich cute for their big-round eyes. LOL!) in the cage. There are different families of birds and even, monkeys.
Going to the resort was a real challenge. We left Manila around 5PM after work and started our adventure. Going to Bulacan capital's (supposed to be) - Baliwag, is easy for you only need to take and follow the signage and directions along and surrounding SLEX until you reach the entry point - San Ildefonso. It was when we arrived in San Ildefonso, Bulacan that we don't know where to turn next. Armed only with our Google maps and directions from the reception crew, we roamed around Bulacan and asked as many as locals as we can to reach San Ildefonso and then, San Rafael.
Its advisable to have your own transport when going there for the resort is located a little farther from the main road. If you are to commute, you will take a tricycle from the main road to the resort entrance after you get off from the bus (100Php). Entrance fee for day tour:100Php/pax, a night swimming will cost you 130Php/pax and overnight is around 150Php/pax.
Food is kind of limited. There's a souvenir shop/store that also sell food, beverages, swim wear and other stuff necessary for resort's goers but may not provide the specific brand that you need and the price is quiet high compared if you buy it outside the resort. Its advisable to purchased the above mention stuff in the city for the next available store is a little too far from the resort's location. You may also order meals from the store and prices varies from the menu.

How to get there from SM fairview?
ReplyDeleteThe address is Big Rock Farm Resort at Pasong Callos Road, Coral na Bato in San Rafael, Bulacan. You can take any bus that goes to Bulacan. The best option if you are coming from Fairview is to drive to Baliwag Transit in Cubao, Bulacan or wait for a Baliwag bus from SM North-Edsa going to Baliwag Bulacan or San Rafael. Take a tricycle from Baliwag town proper or San Rafael and then take another trike to the resort.

ReplyDeletemakano po ang bayad sa tric mula sa mainroad to resort?
ReplyDeleteI am sorry, i was not able to check the rate of the tricycle from main road to resort hence we use a private car. One of my friends though who managed to joined us the following day says they paid P100 for the tricycle for 3 persons. So, i guess, depende sa usapan with the trike driver.
ReplyDeleteMay I ask kung ilang pools meron dito?
Deletethanks!
There are several. They have a big pool they call Cave Pool, the main attraction for me and above it is their cave bar. They also have this big pool with an orca slide, they have a small pool right below the man-made hanging bridge. Another pool of the cottages facing the cave pool.
DeleteYung rate po ba ng cottage, may free entrance fee na (let's say for 2 persons or more), or separate pa yung entrance fee for all guests?
ReplyDeleteWhen we stayed overnight, we paid entrance fee plus the cottage per yung mga nag-stay sa mini-hotel or executive cottages - their cottages rates are inclusive of entrance fees.:D
DeletePwede po ba mgdala ng food sa Big rock?
ReplyDeleteHi there! Sorry for the late posting of reply. I am trying to reply on same date but seems i am having my problem logging in. Anyway, yes, pede kau dala ng food. Free of charge except kung mag-grill kau.:)
Deletecompared to Amana Water Park,
ReplyDeletesa tingin nyo po ano pong mas ok na resort?
Amana Water Park is bigger and better kc cguro ther are longer in the business. kakasimula palang talaga ng big rock eh.:)
Deletemy mga ngcocomment na madumi dw dito, wlang guard and wlang mkausap pg my concern, totoo po ba un and bkt dw po hnd pwede mggrill sa Big Rock?
ReplyDeleteNde naman bawal mag-grill. Pero may bayad. Sa issue na walang maka-usap regarding complains, mayron actually. Yung nasa may tindahan/pantry/canteen nila. Or they may also speak with the receptionist na nasa table right before the entrance - infront the first cottage after the parking lot.
DeleteSa issue na madumi yung place, its partly true. Some of the pools, especially yung puno ng kids - madumi na yung water (maybe because yung mga kids kc dun sa gilid minsan kumakain at kahit nde naka-slippers - talon nalang kagad sa pool) but the rest of the place naman is not. The parking lot is quiet clean, the garden is green and clean too. Yung water sa hanging-bridge - flowing so malinis din. Yung big/cave pool - may naglilinis at midnight at early in the morning.
