Dawal Beach Resort

Been wandering Zambales for quite a while and been keeping pictures of beaches, rice fields, mango orchards and old houses but not a nice, cozy, convenient accommodation.  When it comes to Zambales, other than SBMA, Subic and Olongapo, all I can think of when it comes to accommodation are either nipa hut/cottages or a tent.  Little did I know that even their farthest towns, Sta. Cruz and Candelaria offers world class resorts.

Arriving in Iba, Zambales from Cubao via Victory Liner (371Php/pax) is not enough to get to Dawal Beach Resort and Restaurant.  One must take another bus ride from Iba terminal to Candelaria, Zambales (90Php/pax).  Drop off point is in Brgy. Uacon, Candelaria where you will need to ride a tricycle (10Php/pax) to get to your destination.  The resort is around 200 steps away from the main road, you may also take a walk.

Dawal Beach Resort and Restaurant was founded to cater beach bummers and wanderers who wants to experience a serene environment with the magnificent view of the mountains, sea, sand and sunset.  A perfect refuge for those  who wants to get some peace of mind and refresh their body without going too far away from Manila.

It's the only resort in the area that has a swimming pool.  Resort's patron must get a swimming pass from the reception to use the pool free of charge while walk-in and day tour visitors must pay 120Php(adult) and 100Php(kids) to be able to use the facility.  The swimming pool has a depth of 7feet for adult and 4feet for kids and they have two slides.  For overnight swimming, you may rent their small gazebo for  450Php and large gazebo for 750Php. For special occasions and events, you may reserve the pavilion for 3,000Php.

Room rates varies to number of visitors and room types.  You can choose to stay overnight in a standard room, a house, 'kubo', penthouse, green house, duplex, dormitory or in one of their poolside rooms.  Rates ranges from 1,600Php to 9,500Php.  Extra person's rate will cost you another 400Php/room (this include an extra mattress) and extension hour means 200Php/room/hour.  All of their rooms are fully air-conditioned.  Selected rooms provides hot and cold shower, cable TV and personal refrigerator and  most of the rooms are within the wi-fi zoned.  The resort require visitors to pay half of the room rates, reservation information are available on their website.  For non-peak season, you may walk-in and pay upfront.  They accept  both cash, credit/debit cards.

Dawal restaurant offers different cuisine and various dishes.  My personal favorite is their Filipino menu, e.g. sinigang na hipon, grilled seafood, tapsilog (for breakfast), ampalaya with beef, adobong pusit, etc.  Restaurant's staff also do "paluto" for guest who brought their own food or fresh seafood from the market or bought it from some fisherman a couple of miles away from the resort. Corkage fee is 30Php/day.   Right next to their restaurant is a fabulous stage for Saturday night live concerts. If there's no scheduled concerts, you and friends can sing-your-lungs out. He-he!  The resort also host special events such as the following: birthday, wedding, baptismal and corporate occasions.

The resort provides billiard tables for those who wants to play.  They also provide boat for  guest who wants to visit Potipot Island.  Boat transfer to Potipot is 400Php, it includes life jacket for safe island tour and maximum of 6 persons.  The shore is not as white as Potipot beach but clean and safe nonetheless.  I enjoyed taking pictures of the sunset and having fun chasing the waves barefoot.  You may not encounter locals for the property is private and Dawal's nearest neighbors are equally cozy and nice resorts, e.g. Sunbloom resort, Isla Vista resort, etc.
